Streamline Link Generation and Data Cleanup with New Batch Actions in CAKE

by | Nov 6 | Blog, CAKE News, Product Development

Tracking links are a core component of implementing and managing attribution in CAKE. They represent half of the tracking setup equation, and they are vital to the demand side of the performance marketing industry.

CAKE customers often act as intermediaries between this half of the equation and the other half: advertisers, or offer owners. In practice, this means our customers both generate tracking links for affiliate partners as well as place pixels with advertisers. This responsibility has historically been a pain point, especially in two recurring scenarios:

  • New Relationships: When onboarding new affiliate partners, customers need to quickly generate links for all relevant offers.

  • Existing Relationships: When affiliates apply to new offers or when outages occur, customers must rapidly regenerate and share tracking links.

In both cases, affiliates need links that match the correct payout structure so they can integrate them into their own systems. At its core, a tracking link is the mechanism for attributing traffic to a payout for a given traffic source — in other words, ensuring the right affiliate gets credit for the right action. This is a fundamental value proposition of CAKE: Accurate attribution enables effective performance reporting.

The Power of Batch Actions

Until recently, managing links, tags, affiliates, and offers in CAKE required individual actions, making it time-consuming and cumbersome to keep the system clean and organized. This not only slowed down workflows but also impacted data hygiene, leading to cluttered environments and reduced clarity in reporting.

To solve this, CAKE has expanded Batch Actions, a series of enhancements enabling users to perform high-value actions in bulk, directly from the grids where they already manage these entities.

Batch Actions in CAKE

Batch Link Generation

Batch Link Generation

The first major enhancement is batch tracking link generation, allowing users to create multiple tracking links at once without opening each campaign card individually.

How It Works

  • From the Offer or Affiliate grids, apply filters to find the records you need.

  • Select up to 200 rows on a page.

  • Click the Batch button to generate links for all selected campaigns.

  • Download the file and share with internal teams or affiliate partners.

Campaigns act as the linking entity between Offers and Affiliates, and must exist before a tracking link can be generated.

Batch Data Cleanup

Building on the batch theme, CAKE now allows the removal of tags, affiliates, and offers in bulk, helping users maintain cleaner systems and more accurate reporting.

How It Works

  • Affiliate grid: New “Remove Affiliates” batch action.

  • Offer grid: New “Remove Offers” batch action.

  • Tags list: New “Remove Tags” batch action.

When an offer is removed, all associated campaigns are marked as removed. When an affiliate is removed, all campaigns under that affiliate are removed as well.

This approach keeps the platform organized and reduces the risk of outdated or unnecessary records cluttering the system.

    Benefit

Execute workflows (link generation or entity removal) directly from grids. Apply filters, select up to 200 rows, and complete the action in one step.

    Best Practices

Tags are one of the most underutilized workflow accelerators in CAKE. They shine in batch contexts, such as grouping affiliates or offers for collective updates, link creation, or cleanup.

    Example workflows:

    Link Generation:

    1. Filter the Affiliate grid for a tag like “New Sign Up.”

    2. Select all affiliates and proceed to Offer selection.

    3. Filter the Offer grid for Top Offers.

    4. Generate links for all selected combinations in one step.

    Data Cleanup:

    1. Filter for outdated tags, inactive affiliates, or expired offers.

    2. Select all relevant records.

    3. Use the appropriate batch removal action to clean them up instantly.

By consistently adopting tags and using grids effectively, users can scale their operations, maintain system hygiene, and keep reporting accurate.

    Takeaway

With these enhancements, CAKE has eliminated repetitive, multi-step processes for two critical workflows: link generation and data cleanup. By combining powerful grid filtering, tag-based grouping, and streamlined batch actions, users can:

    • Generate and distribute tracking links in minutes.

    • Maintain a clean, organized system for more reliable reporting.

    • Operate at scale without sacrificing accuracy or speed.

The result is a faster, cleaner, and more efficient CAKE experience, right from where you already work.
